Each piece acts as a visual poem, capturing the soul of its location through a mesmerising interplay of light and sound, weaving together echoes of the past with the vibrant pulse of the present.
"Disrupted Tides" invites viewers to reflect on how a simple piece of infrastructure—a train track—can symbolise a larger, more disruptive force against the natural world. By contrasting the raw, vulnerable essence of the penguin ( the natural environment) with the impersonal, brutal slice of human progress, the project aims to provoke thought about balance, resilience, and the cost of progress in our rapidly changing world...?
"Beyond the Forest" is an evocative exploration of remoteness, resilience, and the profound human impact of industry. Inspired by early maps labelling the land 'Transylvania' (translating to beyond the forest) the piece challenges narrow perspectives while celebrating the dramatic landscape, healing and renewal through diversity and multifaceted approaches.
"Port and Post" explores conflict and connection through Strahan’s maritime heritage and the web-like network its post office represents. Once the West Coast’s vital link before roads, its customs house hosted the Franklin Blockade—an event that epitomises both division and unity, echoing the town’s enduring role as a connector. Port and Post will contrast and combine historic conflicts and current connections...
"Inner Light" reimagines the traditional image of the lighthouse as a beacon in the dark—its external light guiding lost ships—as a metaphor for an inner light that guides our personal choices and journeys. Amid a solid exterior, secret doors and windows unveil a serene inner radiance that shapes and illuminates our individual paths. Photography, field recordings and local art become seeds for new creations grounding Inner Light to place.
